Everyone knows that travel can be rewarding, meaningful, and fun. But that doesn’t mean it goes without its own challenges. Unexpected emergencies and speedbumps while you’re away on vacation can happen, whether you like it or not. To ensure you’re fully prepared for any travel emergencies, it’s best to travel protected with comprehensive travel insurance. In an ideal world, you won’t ever have a medical emergency on vacation, but in the event that you do have to make a claim, these quick tips will help your claim process run smoothly.

Start your claim online

Starting your claim online is the easiest and fastest way to start the claim process. Within the platform, you can digitally submit your claim and upload all the necessary documents to ensure your claim is submitted successfully. These documents often include hospital bills, healthcare forms, airline documentation, etc. If you’re curious as to what types of documents are required, feel free to refer to this list of sample documents here. Submitting your claim through online Link is much faster than emailing or mailing us directly, so it’s a big timesaver for everyone!

Review Your Policy

Review Policy Document

It’s important to understand what you are and are not covered for, especially before embarking on your trip. Review your policy early on to ensure that there are no surprises throughout your claims process

 Don’t delay

This might sound obvious, but the sooner you file your claim (along with all required documents), the sooner we can start your claims process. We begin working through your claim once we receive fully completed and signed claim forms, so the earlier those are sent in, the better. For medical claims, a good rule of thumb is to submit your claim within 60 days from the day you were treated.

Keep your documents

Hold on to important documents so that you have them handy when it’s time to submit your claim. Make sure you provide all itemized bills and receipts, including:

  • Your full name
  • Date(s) of service
  • Amount charged
  • Type of service/diagnosis
  • Complete medical records for the condition(s) claimed while travelling
  • Prescriptions with the itemized pharmacy-issued prescription receipt, not the till or credit card receipt
